I might as well start my "travel diary" right now as I involve myself in one of the most important preparations -- deciding what to wear! My Carnival Splendor cruise, being a "cool-weather" cruise (as opposed to going to the Caribbean), will require a bit different kind of packing.  Can't just hang out in shorts and swimwear when the temperature's in the 70s.  We'll have 3 days on the ship, then a day each in Astoria, Vancouver, and Victoria; and that's after spending 2 days at my sister's house in Kansas City -- a total of 10 days.  Also, there will be 2...

I decided on Jamaica as the "Destination of the Week" because I had a couple of people ask about it this week, and I can save Alaska until I get back from the cruise and have pictures of Victoria! I had been looking for a travel agent opportunity, and thought I was going to get on the Norwegian Spirit for a Bermuda cruise.  What happened was when I completed my NCL "Freestyle Certification" training, I was asked if I would be interested in a choice of Bermuda, Alaska, or Hawaii.  I've been to Alaska twice and Hawaii 4 times, so I chose Bermuda -- it's usually an expensive cruise, so a chance to go at a substantial discount sounded good!
