World Traveler Returns to Cool Weather, Rain
Lucky Kay! She went to Scotland and Ireland, came back a couple of weeks and then went to Mexico. She missed a lot of hot weather here -- it was nice and cool everywhere she went, and she ran into some rain in Scotland -- so I'm thinking that's what she brought us back as our souvenir! Thanks, Kay!
Of course, she had two wonderful trips which were extra-nice because she was there for special occasions. She did tell me something, though, that we need to be reminded of when we travel to Europe -- they are a lot more lax about hotel smoking than we are here in the States. In Dublin, she ended up in an inferior room in order to get one that was non-smoking. Unfortunately, when booking hotel rooms in Europe, "non-smoking" is just a request.
The best part was when she and her companion took a lovely day trip out to the Irish countryside and got to visit an old monastery. They just loved the hop-on-hop-off bus passes in all the cities, and she said the Irish taxi drivers are excellent guides, very entertaining, and completely honest. After talking to her, I was ready to pack my bags and go, too! Someday I will -- the British Isles are on my list.
