Not in any particular order -- just a few of my clients' favorites:
1. The Yukon and White Pass Scenic Railroad, Skagway -- enjoy spectacular scenery as you follow the trail of the 1898 gold-rushers.
2. Butchart Gardens, Victoria -- breathtaking floral fairyland! Have your cameras ready...
3. Saxman Village and Totem Pole Park, Ketchikan -- see artisans at work and learn more about the native culture. Educational, yet lots of fun!
4. Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau -- gorgeous park with hiking trails, visitor center, and ranger station. Can be combined with an interesting salmon hatchery tour for a terrific half-day excursion.
5. Whale watching, Icy Strait Point (available at other ports, too)-- lots of wildlife-spotting opportunities here near the mouth of Glacier Bay.
6. Dogsled Family Adventure, Juneau -- according to my clients, it's every bit as fun as it sounds and educational, too!
7. Salmon Fishing, Ketchikan (available at other ports, too) -- experience the fishing adventure of a lifetime and have your salmon shipped home.
8. Helicopter Over the Glaciers, Juneau -- what a rush! The majesty of the glacial wilderness can hardly be described. Dress warmly and don't forget your sunglasses...
9. Alaska Wildlife Park, Haines -- perfect outing for families! Opportunity to see animals up close in a safe and educational environment.
10. Neet's Bay Bear Watch, Kethikan -- a floatplane takes you to a remote salmon stream and hatchery where wild black bears come to feast.
