"See America" Cruises

June 26th 2011

You don’t have to fly to an exotic foreign port in order to
enjoy a beautiful, interesting cruise.
There are several easy-to-do cruises that set sail from America’s own
shores and take you to some of her most iconic cities and seascapes.

#1: Alaska

     Sail
conveniently from Seattle! Enjoy a day or two exploring this charming city
nestled against the scenic backdrop of mighty Mount Ranier, then board your
ship bound for wild Alaska.  You’ll see
whales, dolphins, bald eagles, and sea lions; face stunning glaciers and
mountain landscapes; and discover treasures of American frontier history and
native cultures.  Every cruise from
Seattle also visits a port or two in Canada.
Or, you can begin/end in Vancouver and go all the way to Anchorage from
where you can venture inland to see America’s tallest mountain majesty, Mt.
McKinley.

#2:  New England

     Sail with ease
from New York City or Boston! These two cities should be on the “must-do” list
of every American.  Packed with activity,
history, architecture, and glamour – each one will keep you on your toes as an
embarkation point or stop on your cruise.
Set sail for the charms and wonders of places like Bar Harbor, Maine;
Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Newport, Rhode Island.  If you go in September or October, you’ll
also be treated to the spectacle of brilliant fall color that the area is most
famous for.  Although I have to say, a
Canada-New England cruise is also wonderful in the summer and very
family-friendly -- I recommend it for anyone who has already been to Alaska.

#3: West Coast

     In the spring
ahead of the Alaska season, and in the fall afterwards, you can take advantage
of repositioning cruises and enjoy the pleasures of our most iconic west coast
cities.  Seattle, Washington; Astoria,
Oregon; San Francisco, Monterrey, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and San Diego,
California are among the beautiful ports-of-call featured on these
cruises.  No need for days of driving or
expensive plane-hopping – simply get onboard a cruise ship and enjoy one of
these uniquely American itineraries.

#4:  Hawaii

     Every
Saturday, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America sets sail from
Honolulu for a tour of paradise! Visit Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and both coasts of
the Big Island – Hilo and Kona.  You’ll sail along the coasts where red-hot lava flows into the sea, towering lush cliffs plunge into crystal-clear waters, and endless stretches of fine-sand beaches beckon invitingly.  With someone
else doing the driving (and doing it at night while you sleep) you get to spend
more time on land enjoying the myriad activities and dazzling scenic
beauty.  Not to be missed!
