Please join us at the Richardson Health and Wellness Fair!
It's the "Healthy Lifestyle of Richardson" from 11:00 to 6:00, sponsored by Richardson Regional Medical Center.
October 31st at the Richardson Civic Center (just West of US75 on Arapaho).
My first thought when asked to participate in the show was, "What would travelling have to do with health?" Of course we feel better after a vacation, but did you know there is actual scientific proof that vacations are good for us?
Researchers from the State University of New York at Oswego reported in the Vegetarian Times that "vacation therapy" is good for the heart. In the study, men who didn't take any vacation time over the five years surveyed had the highest overall death rate and highest incidence of heart didease of any of the participants.
"We concluded that skipping vacations could actually be dangerous to your health," said Dr. Brooks Gump. "On vacation, people tend to pack in more hours of sleep and exercise, as well as spend more time with family and friends -- all of which are good for the ticker."
And in Medical News Today it was reported: "Vacations provide mental health benefits for women. Women who take vacations frequently are less likely to become tense, depressed, or tired and are more satisfied with their marriages" according to a study from Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
So there you have it! Larry and I will be on hand throughout the day to answer vacation questions and offer free brochures and calendars -- so come over and visit with us! And sometime during the show we'll be giving away a Mary Kay "Travel Beauty" collection, so be sure to fill out an entry for that (no worries -- nobody else will get your information besides us). Of course you'll want to be gorgeous on your vacation!
See you there!

Oh yes! About a year ago I was traveling for business every other week. One week New York, then Orlanda, Houston, DC, Seattle, etc., etc.,Well that kind of travel, you know the kind, when you HAVE to, gets old.I was visiting some clients in Napa, California and was able to book myself into the Embassy Suites (which is always worth it, by the way) and found myself with a couple of spare hours before dark.I found a cute little day spa so made an appointment with her the following morning. Oh, My. It was heaven. From the moment I entered the adorable bungalow that had been converted into spa-space. The scented candles drifted their sweet aroma down the hallways. The tinkling of the water fountain, seemed soft, like it was far away. And the soft music of chanting monks was restful. The only other time I had ever had a massage was after a surgery. So I allowed myself thirty minutes to relax. It was wonderful. Then I was lead into another room, each room having their own personalty and charm in the old bungalow, for my face taping.
Oh yes! I highly recommend taking trips and especially those "beauty trips." About a year ago I was traveling for business every other week. One week New York, then Orlanda, Houston, DC, Seattle, etc., etc., all over the country.Well that kind of travel, you know the kind, when you HAVE to, gets old.I was visiting some clients in Napa, California and was able to book myself into the Embassy Suites (which is always worth it, by the way) and had a couple of hours to spare. I found a cute little day spa in the town, so made an appointment with her the following morning. Oh, My. It was heaven. From the moment I entered the adorable bungalow that had been converted into cozy spa-space. I was served a warm cup of tea right of the bat. Then I was lead into another room, each room having its own personalty and charm in the old bungalow left in tack, for my face taping. The room was rather on the cool side, but the the massage table was full of heated blankets and a massaging pillow; it felt wonderful. As the instructor cleaned my face with a wax that felt like silly putty, she explained the process. She took the surgical tape and lifted my cheek-bones and taped them up, she stretched my facial lines and taped them too. She taped all the imperfections of my face up and soaked them in a mineral solution and then I laid back to rest for twenty five minutes. She re-wet the tape and cloth three times before it was all done. The end result: Fabulous! I felt refreshed and looked ten years younger. I'm not kidding. There were no wrinkles, lines or frowns that had graced my face for so long. Gone. Disappeared. Like magic! From that point on, I made a note to always take some time out for myself on these frequent business trips that I had to take.It made all the difference in the world. I felt more alive, more awake, more me. Just less stressed and more happy. So, I highly recommend them. Life's a fast-paced chaotic place. Slow down and take care of yourself once in awhile.:)
Wow! We've got to get this gal on a cruise -- talk about a major opportunity for some major pampering!
