New Record-Keeping System Working Out the Bugs
HQ is working very hard to get out the kinks and improve the appearance/pertinent information on the customer confirmation pages. If you have any trouble reading your confirmation (now shown as "invoice"), please do not hesitate to call me.
I've had my fair share of issues figuring out the new forms, too, but the most recent improvements seem to have solved the difficulty I had of finding/reading the final balance and payment date.
Learning a (yet another) new system has led to an epiphany for me regarding aging and resistance to change:
It's not that I am resistant to change per se, but that I am kind of fatigued with it. After all, I have learned 3 systems now in 6 years!
The struggle with adapting yet again crystalized for me the situation we face as we get older: the older we get the more changes we have to or have had to adapt to. I think we just get tired of it. For younger people, it's easy to look at older people and think "well, they just can't accept change."
Look at what happened to music formats as an example: first we had LPs, then we had 8-track tapes, then we had cassettes, and now we have CDs. That's 3 changes for anyone at least over 40 and maybe 4 changes for people over 70. For someone in their 20s, maybe they have experienced the move from cassettes to CDs -- one change versus 3 or 4.
I think the more frequently the changes come, the more "tired of it" we get -- at some point we just want to be competent in what we're doing and get on with it instead of relearning the same thing every time we turn around. Doesn't mean we can't do it, though!
Anyway, my apologies to the clients who have been inconvenienced, and my thanks for everyone's patience!
