Island Princess Gets Rave Review
Finally made it back to report on this amazing Alaska cruisetour! Judy just couldn't say enough great things about Princess, the beautiful Island Princess, and all the wonderful places they went.
She said that in Denali National Park they went on a tour and saw bears, wolves, foxes, moose, and Dall's Sheep! And not just a few -- she said "lots of them." They were really impressed with the lodge, too, and said the food was better and there was more variety than they might have expected. They even got to see Mt. McKinley, so now I am really envious.
In Copper River, they couldn't believe how spectacular the scenery was, and there was almost nobody there -- it was a true wilderness experience.
They did run into one snag -- they were supposed to have a boat ride from Valdez to Whittier at the end of the land portion, but rough weather meant they had to take a bus and go back through Anchorage instead. Princess gave them money for lunch and additional shipboard credit since they missed spending the afternoon on the ship, so overall they were pleased with how they handled the situation. The ride from Anchorage to Whittier is spectacular anyway, so it was OK.
I thought they were going to go fishing at Copper River, but instead they took a fishing excursion in Ketchikan and had a blast! They not only caught fish, but saw "lots" of whales. They loved all the ports, and had a beautiful day at Glacier Bay -- it's just so fantastic to sit on your own balcony and watch these huge hunks of ice break off with a big splash!
The ship was gorgeous, the food was fantastic -- and they just had a wonderful time.
What's next? I asked. Judy said, "Oh, maybe the Greek Isles, Israel, around there." Sounds like another fabulous adventure to me!
