Hope Everybody Has a Great Fourth of July Weekend!
Except for the heat, of course -- by the time it gets dark we still haven't cooled down too much here in Dallas. Anyway, it should be a lot of fun!
I remember a few years ago we went out to San Diego over the holiday to see our youngest son Bryce (he was in the Navy and was stationed there), and it got really chilly in the evening while we were watching the fireworks. I was always used to fireworks shows in shorts, sandals, and bug repellent, and taking a cooler full of iced tea and beer (and I had sat on a blanket before, but never wrapped myself up in one), but that night hot chocolate would have been a better choice!
Until that visit, it had seemed weird to see people in California wearing shorts and sweaters, but after that evening I understood why they do!
We had a really great trip -- checked out the beaches, went to the zoo, walked around the waterfront area and watched a cruise ship sail out, had some wonderful meals, visited some of the main tourist sites, and just generally had a good time. San Diego is a excellent destination for a quick get-away, and I'd be happy to help you set it up and guide you toward the places to go and things to see!
Thanks and talk soon -- Janet
