Help me pick a cruise!

April 11th 2008

Hello!  No obligation -- I would just really appreciate your opinion.  My idea is for a cruise in the Spring that would feature great food and wine, and I would plan some special tours and winery visits for the group.

Following is a brief description of each cruise.  Then, in the comment field below, please write in your preference of "Canada-New England" or "West Coast."

Wonderful Cruise #1:  Holland America Line, the Maasdam sailing May 23, 2009 from Montreal to Boston.  Stops are at Quebec, Charlottetown, Sydney, Halifax, and Bar Harbor.  The cruise is 7 nights, and ocean-view staterooms start at $1299 per person.

Wonderful Cruise #2:  Princess Cruises, the Sapphire Princess sailing May 9, 2009 from Los Angeles to Vancouver.  Stops are at Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Astoria, Seattle, and Victoria.  This one is also 7 nights, and balcony staterooms start at $999 per person.

I'll take answers from now through next weekend (April 20) then post the results.  Thanks for participating!

The East Coast would be great in the fall, however Spring might be a nice change of pace. The pacific west coast is also beautiful after getting out of Southern California. Victoria is one of my favorite places....Buchart Gardens is a must. I suppose we will have to do them both!!

Both sound great, butsince I, too, have been to all the places on cruise #2, I would select cruise #1. And since so many people have probably gone to New England etc in the fall for the leaves, you might interest travelers to try those area in the spring as well if you can promo some exciting events in those areas.

Cruise #2. We have always wanted to travel to the Pacific Northwest; although Canada is beautiful, we have visited there previuosly.

I have been on both, but for me the best would be cruise no. 1. Lots of history, places to see and in the fall some beautiful leaves.

This one is tough! I love Boston and Bar Harbor is a MUST! The west coast cruise sounds fun too, but I've been to those areas before, so, I'd do the first option.

Since we have lived on the west coast for years and my husband is from the east coast we would select the Canada-New England spring tour. The Los Angeles - Vancouver cruise would be wonderful for sure but we've been to those ports several times and they are lovely!

I agree with Pat that the northern East Coast would be a better "fall" trip..the West Coast offerings include USA and Canada, the price is great, and I have heard Victoria and Vancouver are gorgeous, so I vote West Coast

Cruise #1 for this time of year. I would prefer the #2 in the Fall.

Personally, for the time of year, I like the West Coast. It sounds wonderful, and the price for a balcony is great!

Because we've seen some of the West Coast and none of New England, we think the Canada- New England cruise sounds more interesting. But that coast in the fall would probably be more beautiful.
